"Words From The Road"
"Big week last week. I was on the road with Jimmy Davis (from Memphis) from Tuesday till Thursday and had a blast! What a cool dude. Jimmy's an amazing singer-songwriter with a great history in the music biz. We started out Tuesday at the River City Grille (with Johnny Gringo and Mike Blakely), at their Texamericana Tuesdays. Thanks to Mike and Johnny for having us.
It was on to Austin the next morning to meet with my new booking agents at KB Talent, a great young and vibrant agency and I know we're gonna do big things together. They are listed on the 'New and Improved' website now. So if you want to book us, just give them a call. Then it was down to Texas Hatters in Lockhart to order a new straw for the summer. They've got a great new store in Lockhart. Go check em' out. Manny would be proud.
Back to New Braunfels just in time to stick my feet in the Guadalupe before heading over to Frieheit Store to play another show with Jimmy. Not a big crowd for a Wednesday, but a good one. Got to see a couple of old friends from Itasca, Julie Swift and Susan Hughes. Love those gals! Thanks Jules for puttin' me up.
Then it was back home to Cotton Belt on Thursday for yet another great time with Jimmy Davis. Great crowd at Cotton Belt. Get there early this week, Davin James is coming to town.
Friday we headed up to Denison to play at T Bones. With a threat of rain we set up inside. I really wanted to play outside and guess what? It didn't rain a drop! Damn!! Anyway, it was a good night with some good friends. Great to see Doug and Donna Bell (and crew) and it was really good to see Rick Honea, who we met on the cruise. He's been put through the ringer lately beating cancer. Now we have two success stories with Rick and Ricky Dykes! God Bless em both! We'll all be headin' to Playa together for Face Down 5 in August.
Saturday we surprised Gary Newell for his 50th Birthday at cousin Julie's house in NHR. Then we dragged everybody over to the Stagecoach for a purty big after party. Great crowd at the Coach. Thanks to everyone for coming out. One couple came all the way from Paris (not France) cause they listen to us on XM America 10 and Willie's Place 13. God Bless those folks at XM Radio!
I'm heading down to play Puffabelly's with Davin tommorrow (Wed) and he'll be with me on Thursday at Cotton Belt, as previously mentioned. Friday we're going to play Muldoon's in El Campo for the first time on our way to Port A and the Back Porch. It looks like I've got a lot of folks coming with us, so it's gonna be a 'Party in Port A'.

June 2007 Birthday Bash
Wow what a great Birthday Present! Thanks to everyone who came to the Birthday Bash at Bosque Bottoms, probably the best one yet! Had a great campsite lottery and I want to really thank Joe Dye, Gary Newell, Charlene Elder, Mike Owen, for doing a lot of great preparation to make that deal work as smoothly as it did. Thanks to everyone at the Meridian Chamber of Commerce and BBQ Association for gettin us down there, and also I would really like to thank Ronnie Sawyer, Dee, and Mike Vanacek for getting the ball rolling and continuing to help us in every way possible in Meridian. Visit the Hill Country Bar & Grill and Circle Motel every chance you get. They will take good care of you.
I think the show went off with out a hitch on Friday and Saturday night. Thanks to all who participated in every way. Lot's of behind the scenes gals and guys that don't get mentioned alot of times do a lot of work and we love and appreciate each and every one of you. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
Thanks to all the entertainers who were there on Friday sorry I had to miss it, but we were in Granbury at RC's with Randy Brown and the band for a great show there. Thanks to Robin and Carol for having us back and we're ready to come back when you are girls!
Saturday was great with Morris McCann, Randy Brown, Amos Staggs and of course the birthday boys. I'd like to send a personal thanks out to my band for backin Randy and Amos and doing such a fine job on each show. None Better! Oh yeah my two favorite presents were the Randy Brown cd and Brokeback Mt. Calendar Randy and his crew gave me, sweet bunch of guys!
Back in the studio on Monday to work on the new cd, with Amos and Jerri Lynn, Randy and Melissa Brown, and Reggie Rueffer, doing some singin on This Buzz is For you. It was great fun......thanks to Reggie for some great fiddlin around. We'll hopefully be finishing it up by the end of the month.
Come see us this week, for you folks in the Hill Country we'll be swingin down to Marble Falls at the River City Grille on Tuesday, and Frieheit store on Wednesday with out buddy from Memphis, Jimmy Davis.
