Words from the Road
"Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you had a good one!
Last week was great, pickin 'with Walt Wilkins and crew at Love and War in Texas Plano to start things off was really awesome! It's always a great night with those guys. Congratulations to Bill and Julie on the birth of their son Jude, so Bill didn't make the trip, but Patterson Barrett who plays just about everything, filled in wonderfully on bass for El Guapo. Jimmy Daddy, Brian Langlinais, Corby Shaub, and Ray Rodriguez rounded out the band. Lots of great vibes!
Saturday was a little less special. It was cold, there wasn't much of a crowd and I can't figger it out. It was a benefit for the West Lake volunteer fire dept in Laguna Park on Lake Whitney. Great venue with a big stage and yard that would hold a LOT of people. I can understand no one showing up for us, but for the Fire-fighters? It just doesn't make sense. Oh well we stayed as long as we could in the cold weather with no one to listen. Thanks to Steve Soloman who played fiddle with us and did a great job!
Sunday we shopped around Whitney and then went to Granbury to check on the Rio Brazos. Folks this thing is gonna be great! It's a #1 first class all the way! Thanks to Jim Hart, man for having us over for some coctails and chili before the Cowboys got kicked again! So don't forget we'll be playing there on November 12 and 19. The 12th is Willie night so come see us early and hang for Willie in the big tent outside! Can't wait. Check out their schedule at www.riobrazos.com.
So this Thursday I'll be at Big Barn BBQ with special guest Amos Staggs, so don't miss it. The weather is supposed to be really nice so come be with us like ole times out in the Backyard.
Saturday night we'll be back in the old hometown of Itasca for a FFA Benefit with the full band at Curry's Building kickin off about 9.
I want to go back a little and give a huge thanks to my crew at the Gathering this year! They worked their butts off this year again, and all the people really do realize what a great job they do. Thanks so much!
Also my right hand folks, Gary and Charlene Newell and Joe Dye who really work on this deal all year long for us! God Bless ya'll!

Words from the Road
"Well I started it out last week with a gig with my buddy Morris McCann at Rendezvous in Sherman and it was a great night! Love pickin and singing with Morris.
So he followed me over to Denton on Thursday night for another little acoustic show at the Love Shack. Thanks to Morris and his son Josh for opening up the night with a great show!
Friday it was back home to get the trailer and head to Abilene for a show at Southern Nights. The new owners there, Stephanie and Billy Swiney really took good care of us and we had
a wonderful night! Love the Southern Nights. Can't wait to go back!
Saturday we were back in Blackwell for another great Riding Club rodeo dance at the pavillion there! Thanks to Joel Lemley and Tommy White for making it such a pleasure to work with good folks!
So, now we're dotting all the t's and crossing all the i's for the Gathering this week and gettin' everything in place. Hope ya'll are ready.
Several people have been calling and wondering about times and such, so let me just say, music starts at noon everyday and the bands will change in 30-40 minute sets till late in the evening so it's not to hard to figger out when your favorites will be on! If you'll check www.reverbnation.com/tommyalverson, I will put exact times up as soon as possible. And of course times and artists are subject to change (as you know).
See you in The Woodlands, Waxahachie, or at the Gathering!"

Words From The Road
"Started of this hot week with the North Texas Fair on Tuesday with Brian Burns and Brian Houser, the Beer Man. It was a hot one, two sets, one at 6pm and one at 11pm after the Dale Watson Show. Dale was great as usual! He'll be coming to the Gathering you know! It was a good night even though it was so damn hot! Thanks to Nancy Kimmey for having us there!
Thursday hit the heat again with Terry Rasor at his weekly Thursday show at Chubby's Burgers in Ft. Worth. Always a great time with Raz and next week we're starting on his new cd at Patrick McGuire's in Arlington. Looking forward to that for sure.
Saturday night we were back with the band at our old stompin' grounds at the White Elephant and it was packed as I've ever seen it. Great to be back onstage at the Elephant!
Sunday back at the Stockyards for the Warm Up Fort Worth benefit to raise funds and warm clothes for the homeless. It might be a while before they have to worry about using them but I think we did good. Got to pick with Amos Staggs, Terry Rasor (again), Brad Hines, and Earl Musick. Great set with some great friends. Thanks to Phil Wallace and everyone else who help organize the event."
